I gasped for air - it woke me up

I gasped for air - it woke me up
For the third time tonight
It scared me, so I leapt from bed
Turned on the kitchen light

I cried in weakness on the floor
My body wrought with tension
What could I do but call out for
The Spirit’s condescension?

Broken in anxiety
Pressed down by weight and sin
Exhausted by analysis
I threw the towel in

I am weary
“Rest is yours”

I need answers
“They are mine”

Can I have them?
“Rest assured.
All will come in time”

I saw a burden that was light
A yoke to guide my steps
And as I took the burden on
I found the Way to rest
